Aunt Marilyn's Rolls

by Marilyn

2 packages yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
 1 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. shortening
1 t. salt
3 eggs
4 1/2 - 5 c. flour

Soften yeast in water to which 1 T. of sugar is added.  Combine remaining sugar, milk, shortening and salt.  Add eggs and beat on #2 speed.  Add 2 c. flour and beat on #1 speed.   Add yeast. Beat on #5 speed for 4 min.  Add as much more flour as can be stirred into dough without kneading.  Place in greased bowl and let rise until double.  Roll out and let rise.  (We usually roll the dough out in 3-4 circles and then cut pie-shaped pieces and roll them up.)  Bake at 375ºF. for 15 min.

~We liked these rolls so much that after the first time Aunt Marilyn brought them to a family dinner, they appeared at just about every family dinner ever after.
