1 gallon grease
2 cans lye
1 3/4 quarts water
1/2 c. ammonia
1/2 c. borax
Melt grease. Let cool. Add lye to water. Then let mixture cool. Pour together with other ingredients in pan. Cut into pieces. Best if aged for a time.
~It took a lot of soap to keep the Lemke house and family clean. They'd have to save up the grease for a while before there was enough to make soap.
