Vanilla Ice Cream

2 c. milk
1/8 t. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1 T. flour
4 egg yolks
2 t. vanilla
2 c. cream

Scald milk in double boiler, gradually add mixture of sugar, flour and salt and cook 5 minutes, stiring constantly.  Stir small amount into egg yolks, then return this mixture into double boiler and cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.  Chill.  Add vanilla and cream, and freeze in ice cream freezer. 
Approximate yield:  3 pints.

~Since we lived on a dairy farm, we had our own eggs, milk and cream.  I always doubled this recipe.
